ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Coronation Street’s Sair Khan announces Pregnancy
Coronation Street actress Sair Khan has announced she is pregnant with her first child.
The 35-year-old, who plays Alya Nazir on the long-running ITV soap, announced the happy news on December 13, 2023.
Sharing photos of her growing bump on Instagram, Sair looked radiant while posing alongside her boyfriend Nathan Chilton.
Alongside the photos, Sair wrote: “Hello… It’s been a little while since posting on here which has been a real mix of emotions.
“With all that is happening in the world, it didn’t feel like the right time to share but we also know it’s okay to keep hope and pray for peace whilst acknowledging that we feel blessed and grateful.”
Sair Khan also addressed Nathan’s health issues, stating that he had chondroblastoma surgery on his pelvis in 2022. It is a procedure to remove a tumour.
The post continued: “Last year was a challenging time for us both with Nathan’s chondroblastoma surgery on his pelvis.
“It’s been a long road to recovery and still has many obstacles ahead as we deal with the spread of the tumour to his lungs.
“Life can be difficult and there’ll always be challenges to face but there are also important lessons to be learnt and gifts to be cherished.”
Confirming the pregnancy, Sair added:
“We’re so excited for the arrival of Baby Chilton in Spring 2024.”
Sair Khan, who has been on Coronation Street since 2014, received congratulatory messages from her friends and co-stars.
Ex-Coronation Street star Kym Marsh wrote:
“Oh this is beautiful news. Sending you both lots of love.”
Lucy Fallon wrote: “So so so happy for you both gorgeous Sair. Can’t wait for baby besties to unite.”
Fleur East commented: “Woooo!!! Congratulations!!”
Catherine Tyldesley said:
“Oh my love!!!! This is the best news. Congratulations guys.”
Sair and Nathan have been together since late 2020 after being introduced by a mutual friend but they did not go public with their relationship until September 2021.
Before dating Nathan, Sair Khan was in a two-year relationship with Emmerdale actor Simon Lennon. They split up in 2019.
In 2020, Sair was forced to deny she was pregnant after posting a photo of herself cradling her stomach.
She clarified at the time:
“OMG I’M NOT PREGNANT!!
“That was a terrible choice of picture to post. It was just a food baby but I thought I looked cute.
“Genuinely not [pregnant]. I just really enjoyed my fish and chips at lunch.”
In addition to Coronation Street, Sair also participated in the 2018 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! She was the third celebrity to be voted off.
