ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Comedian Raju Srivastava passes away at 58
Comedian Raju Srivastava passed away in Delhi at the age of 58.
The comedian died after spending 41 days in hospital.
Raju was taken to AIIMS on August 10, 2022, after suffering a heart attack whilst working out at a gym.
It was reported that he had been on a ventilator.
His brother had said that the comedian was slowly recovering but was unconscious.
Dipoo said: “The recovery is slow. He will be fine soon. He is stable and on a ventilator.
“He is still unconscious. It’s been 35 days but doctors are saying they are doing their best. We need all your prayers.”
When asked if the family was planning to transfer Raju to another hospital, Dipoo said there were no such plans.
He added: “He will be treated at AIIMS and we will take him home after he has recovered. We have faith in the doctors.”
Despite the recovery, his family announced that Raju has passed away.
Raju’s wife Shikha Srivastava said: “I am not able to talk right now.
“What can I share or say now? He fought very hard, I was really hoping and praying to see him come out of this.
“But, that has not happened. All I can say is that he was a true fighter.”
Raju’s nephew Kushal Srivastava and family friend Dr Aneel Murarka had been visiting him at AIIMS regularly for the past two months.
Kushal said: “He passed away due to a second cardiac arrest. We were confident till yesterday that all will be well because he had been battling it for two months.”
Following his death, tributes were paid to the comedian.

Home Minister Amit Shah said: “Renowned comedian Raju Srivastava ji had a unique style, he impressed everyone with his amazing talent.”
Baijayant Jay Panda, the national vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said:
“Deeply shocked and anguished by the untimely demise of Shri Raju Srivastava, one of the finest comedians India had!
“His humour and years of laughter will always be cherished.
“My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the bereaved family. Om Shanti.”
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Making audiences laugh without using abusive/vulgar words or insulting anybody’s faith, just with sense of humour, timing and mimicry, such things were the speciality of Raju Srivastava.”
Raju Srivastava had been in the entertainment industry since the 1980s.
He rose to fame after participating in the first season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.
He also had small roles in Hindi films such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar, Bombay to Goa and Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya.
Raju was also part of Bigg Boss 3.
